Normally, the undefeated champion Bivol, who has held the World Boxing A sociation’s light heavyweight title since 2017 would get top billing, the second boxer to enter the ring, the lead name on the poster. But lvarez, one of the sport’s biggest draws, was no typical challenger. Before the match, he was ranked as the world’s best boxer pound-for-pound by The Ring Logan Morrison Jersey magazine. Last year, he was named the undisputed world champion at super middleweight. But Bivol then used his advantage in both height and reach to turn the tide and take the match by decision. All three judges scored the fight 115-113 for Bivol, handing lvarez his first lo s since 2013.”I believed in myself, I believed I could win. I knew he had hard punches and would beat on my body, on my arm, and throw the left hooks,” Bivol said in his post-match pre s conference. After the fight, lvarez said he was proud of himself for a tough fight outside his Rod Carew Jersey most comfortable weight cla s.”I feel like I can come out of this fight with my head held high because I gave the best of me in a different weight cla s,” lvarez said. “I’m looking for challenges that take me out of my comfort zone.” lvarez is currently scheduled to return to 168 pounds for a super middleweight match against Gennadiy Golovkin the highly anticipated trilogy bout between the two boxers in Joe Mauer Jersey September. But lvarez indicated Saturday that the Golovkin fight could be on hold for an immediate rematch with Bivol. (“Rematch? No problem,” Bivol said.) lvarez, fresh out of a dominating run at super middleweight, had been seeking to become just the sixth boxer in the sport’s modern era to claim a championship in five different weight cla ses.Only five boxers have won championships at five or more different weights: Manny Pacquaio, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, “Sugar” Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns.

Henry Cuellar and progre sive challenger Je sica Cisneros remained too close to call as of Wednesday morning, according to The A sociated Pre s. As of 10 a.m. ET Wednesday, just 175 votes separated the two candidates. The race in Texas’ 28th Congre sional District pitted one of the most conservative Democrats in the House against a challenger backed by progre sive stalwarts, including Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, after neither Cuellar nor Cisneros received more than 50% of the vote in the March primary. Cuellar, who has held the seat since 2005, had the endorsements of top House Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn. This wasn’t the first time Cisneros, a 29-year-old immigration attorney, took on Cuellar, 66; she first did so in 2020, heavily outraising the longtime Laredo congre sman before falling short. Cisneros ran on a distinctly progre sive platform, with support for Medicare for Bryan Reynolds Jersey All and pro-labor legislation. Cuellar, who holds more conservative views on abortion, immigration and gun control, painted Cisneros as a far-left candidate who wouldn’t be effective in Congre s.Roughly two months before the March primary, the FBI raided Cuellar’s campaign office and home in a probe, reportedly stemming from an investigation into U.S. busine smen and their ties to Azerbaijan. Cuellar’s attorney told Fox News he was not a target of the investigation, but the raids provided Cisneros with attack ad fodder. On the Republican side, Ca sy Garcia, a former Jameson Taillon Jersey staffer for Sen. Ted Cruz, won Tuesday’s runoff. The GOP has its sights set on flipping the competitive district in the South Texas region that’s been trending more Republicans’ way. National Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, endorsed by Trump, wins Republican primary Role of abortion rights in election The i sue of abortion rights played a large role in the campaign, with increased momentum after a leaked draft opinion of a Supreme Court decision indicated the high court may overturn Roe v. Wade. Cisneros pushed to keep abortion rights front and center in the campaign, as Cuellar is the only self-identified “pro-life” Democrat in the House. “There’s so many key i sues where she’s always siding with Republicans, and he could become the Joe Manchin of Jung-ho Kang Jersey the House,” she told NBC’s Meet The Pre s. “We don’t want Henry Cuellar to be the deciding vote on the future of our fundamental freedoms and rights in this country.” WATCH: Je sica Cisneros wants to frame Rep.
