THE RUMOR:Tyler Myers’ time in Winnipeg could be short-lived. The Jets reportedly have received calls about their new defenseman two days after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade with the Sabres.

THE DETAILS:While Myers providesan upgrade to the Jets’ defense, e sentially replacing Evander Kane with Drew Stafford (the second main piece in the trade) doesn’thelpthe forward corps.In that vein, Winnipeg is looking to acquire another Vontaze Burfict Jersey top-nine forward in order to keep pace in the playoff race, according to Dreger’s report. To do that, they could consider flipping Myers to another team. Teams have been calling Jets GMKevin Cheveldayoff about taking Myers off his hands.

THIS SEASON:Myers, a wildly talented 6-8 defenseman who has never quite fulfilled his potential, was floundering Kevin Minter Jersey on a bad team in Buffalo. He was, however, averaging25:04 minutes per game, with 13 points and a minus-15 rating in 47 games. In his Winnipeg debut on Thursday, Myers played21:23 and was a minus-1 with no points. He also was injured after blocking a Shea Weber slap shot late in the game, but Myers isn’t expected to mi s time.

SN’S TAKE:Dreger said in the report that any deal involving Myers likely wouldn’t happen before the trade deadline.Cheveldayoffwould like time to evaluate his new blueliner to see how he fits before making any further moves. Besides, there are a number of forwards the Jessie Bates III Jersey Jets could obtain before the deadline in deals that wouldn’t requireMyers. But such a player still wouldn’t come close to replacing Kane, who had 22 points in 37 games while playing through injury.
