Darren Helm will now be known for his speed both on and off the ice.

The Red Wings center Connor Barwin Jersey on Tuesdayshared the remarkable story of how hisdaughter was born in the car on the side on I-96 on the way to the hospital, the Detroit Free Pre s reported.

“I was trying to get to the hospital as quick as I could,” Helm said.

Helm and his girlfriend, Devon, welcomed their second child,Rylee, aweek ahead of schedule in the most dramatic fashionat 2:15 a.m. on Monday. Sheweighed sixpounds and 10 ounces.Helm and his girlfriend have another daughter,3 1/2-year-old Reece.

“After (Sunday afternoon’s) game, I was in bed around 10:30 or 11 (p.m.), pretty tired after the game, and she kind of woke me up and said things were happening real fast,” Helm said of his girlfriend. ” Zach Laskey Jersey It came on so quick, we thought we’d have some time to get to the hospital, and things just took aturn.

“The baby was ready to come out and say hello, and that’s what she did.”

Helm’s girlfriend gave birthin the backseat of hisfour-door Audia mere five minutes away from Providence Park Hospital in Novi, Mich. After aboutfive minutes,Helmrushed mom and their newborn daughter to the emergency room. Both were healthy and doing very well.

“It was pretty intense,” Helm said. “Extremely proud of what (Devon) did, the courage and pain she had to go John Johnson Jersey through, it’s amazing how she did that. I’m so proud of her.”

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock was happyto hear that babyRylee had arrived safely.

“That would have been quite a visual, to say the least,” Babcock said. “Good for them. We’re happy to have a new Red Wing, and that’s exciting stuff. Glad Mom is happy and the baby is happy.”

Helm will play Deacon Jones Jersey Tuesday when the Red Wings host theCoyotes at 7:30 p.m. ET. He hopes to be le s distracted when he takes the ice.
